The most anticipated releases in April
Every month I do a list of the best and most anticipated releases on their way next month but April is easily the most exciting one yet. I don't think April is better than February (or any other month probably the most stacked release calendar for a while) but it has easily the most exciting release of all time.
Morbius (movie)
This is it. This is the most exciting release of all time. I've already written an extensive Morbius preview so I won't say too much about it here but Morbius is easily going to be movie of the year. Not really. Morbius will be terrible but I can't wait. We'll also be covering and reviewing Morbius in depth on the next release on this list.
Cloven Hoof Podcast (Podcast)

This one's a bit of a cop out but it's the one I'm looking forward to the most (after Morbius of course). We'll be kicking it off on the first of April (or that's the plan anyway) and we'll be talking all things Morbius and The Oregon Trail (you'll have to tune in to see why). It will run every two weeks with a different topic each time so be sure to sign up to keep up to date. Anyway that's the self promo done, let's get back to it.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (movie)

The Fantastic Beasts franchise is lukewarm at best but there's no doubt that the Harry Potter spin-off is still hugely popular. The first Fantastic Beasts movie was actually surprisingly good but the second one is what you would get if you made a film insoired by the colour beige, it was just kind of nothing. I'm a complete sucker for a Mads Mikkelsen movie though so I'm fully on board with this one even if his appearance is at the expense of Johnny Depp. Is it the end of a trilogy or are there going to be more movies after this? I don't know but I guess we will by the end of April.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (game)

It's about time we got a new Lego game and it's also about time we got a new Star Wars game, so in a way it's actually about time we got a new Lego Star Wars game. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga brings every Star Wars movie into Lego form in what promises to be one of the biggest games of the year. There will be over 300 character, with at least 27 hub planets (I'm counting the Death Star as a planet, and a fully revamped combat system with different attack types and movement controls. Details are still a little light but if you're a Star Wars fan this one is an absolutely a must play.
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (movie)

Sonic 2 has crept up out of nowhere and is coming out in April. Be honest did you know it was coming out so soon? Sonic the Hedgehog was a pretty solid movie, it's not perfect by any means but it's a lot of fun. If the sequel is as fun as the first one, which it looks to be based on trailers, then we're in for a pretty good time. Ben Schwartz, Jim Carrey, and James Marsden are all back for a second time and we'll be seeing the debut of Knuckles who will be played by Idris Elba (what an odd casting choice by the way) so it's fair to say the cast is pretty stacked. You probably don't need to rush to the cinema for this one but it's definitely not a bad idea if you're looking for something light and easy to watch.
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (movie)

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent looks excellent. Nicolas Cage is playing a fictionalised version of himself with widely loved star Pedro Pascal playing a wealthy superfan. I could go further into what happens but I'd suggest that you check out a trailer for this one and see it for yourself, in fact I'll even embed one here for you so you don't even have to leave this page. Nicolas Cage is at his absolute best when he's playing a ridiculous over the top character and what character could be more ridiculous and over the top than himself.
That just about wraps us up for today's article, there's not really that much going on in April aside from endless Switch game ports so I'm keeping it brief. Sign up here to stay updated and get articles dropped straight to your email.
